How to create a sacred space for Chakradance at home

Chakradance is danced with eyes closed, preferably in the darken room or with an eye mask on and really loud music. It helps you to go deeper within, connect to your inner wisdom and be guided by specific chakra-resonant music.

What will you need?

  • Enough safe space to move around where no one will disturb you,
  • a darken room or an eye mask to help you dive into yourself, to your inner wisdom,
  • good quality headphones or a player so that you can listen to the music out loud and let yourself be guided.

You can also prepare an altar that you decorate with flowers, crystals, trinkets or whatever you wish, light a candle, lay out your cards, burn an essential oil to clear and prepare your space. It doesn't have to be the whole room, it can be a corner that will be just yours, your safe sacred space. Don't forget to say the intention before dancing, the energy is that much stronger.

When is the best time to dance?

Anytime you feel like it.  In the morning, afternoon, evening or at night. When you feel well, even when you dont feel well. Listen to your intuition and let it guide you. Only you know what is best for your mind, body and soul. And when you can't even find the answer? Just close your eyes, take three deep breaths, gently exhale and ask yourself. The first thing that comes to mind is the correct answer.

What is Chakradance

Healing movement therapy modality

Chakradance was founded by Australian Natalie Southgate 25 years ago.  It’s a form of nourishment for your true self – for your soul. Moving to music specifically created to resonate with each chakra, you are guided into your own inner dance of release and re-connection. It offers a kind of liberation.

It feels like coming home.

In this modality, there is an unique coctail of modern Carl Jung psychology, eastern chakra science, specific chakra-resonant music, guided visualization, spontaneous dance and Mandal Art.

At the heart of Chakradance is the music. For all of us, the seven major chakras are the energetic gateways through which body, mind and spirit come together, literally embodying the soul.

In Chakradance classes and courses, each of these seven chakras has its own unique body of wonderfully danceable music, resonating to its own specific vibrational frequencies.

On one level, Chakradance can be experienced as a joyful affirmation of who you truly are. Using spontaneous dance, creativity and your imagination, it leads to an awakening, a discovery of your true self.

But at a deeper level, Chakradance is also about healing and balance. By surrendering to the music of each chakra, we dance from the inside out and find ourselves awakening and healing ancient hurts; expressing – often for the first time – long-blocked emotions; and opening ourselves up to levels of spiritual connection higher than we ever thought possible.
